Ancient Town ‘Sevtopolis’, Submerged on a Lake Bottom to be Reconstructed

Association ‘Preserve the Bulgarian’ starts action for the realizing of ‘Sevtopolis’ project.

At first the organizators will collect subscription list throughout the whole country, the projects author and major architect Jeko Tilev announced.

Sevtopolis or the City of Tracian King Sevt III is capital of the Odyisian state in the end of IV – beginning of III century before Christ.

It was found and observed in 1948 – 1954 by the construction works of Koprinka dam like and afterwards, however, submerged in the lake waters.

This is the first and best preserved Thracian city in Bulgaria, located 7 km western from the Thracian capital of Bulgaria – Kazanlak and 2 kilometers from the ‘Goliyama Kosmatka’ tomb, where the biggest Thracian treasures were found.

The reconstruction of the ancient city, located on the lake bottom was hindered to the moment by undecided judicial matters.

Few foreign companies have already shown interest towards subsidizing the initiative.

According to architect Jeko Tilev the financing of the project won’t injure the state subsidizing of other archaeological objects, due to the fact it would depend mainly on public- private partnership and support by EU funds.

The reconstruction of Sevtopolis won’t use state budget recourses.

There won’t be any ecological harm over the local fauna. It is previewed the reservoir to be drawn out during the city walls’ reconstruction but this won’t be dangerous for the local environment.

The projects author pointed out the social – economical and scientific significance which the Sevtopolis reconstruction will have. It will attract many tourists and will develop the infrastructure in the region.

The project has the support of many world organizations from Netherlands, USA, Canada, Spain and also lots of state institutions, though haven’t still received official answer.

Seaside Resorts Reduce Prices

At Golden Sands and Albena the price of rooms is about 10-15 Euro per person, “Narodno Delo” informs.

Tourists, who have chosen to spend their holiday at a 3-star hotel in Albena must pay about 50 Euro per day for a single adult. At the end of May the prices announced for the active season were 10 Euro higher.

At Sunny Beach bed and board costs between 25 and 30 Euro as the reduction is 5 Euro. At Golden Sands the price reduction is almost 15 Euro per person for a double room.

Room and board in a double room in Balchik costs between 10 and 25 Euro, while in the beginning of the season the announced prices started from 20 Euro. The vacationer must pay 15-20 Euro per day in Kavarna. The sum was the same in the beginning of the season. Prices have not changed in other vacation towns like Nessebar, Sozopol. In St. Elias and Riviera the All Inclusive four star hotels have also not changed the previously set prices.
In the same time there are seasonal price reductions of summer merchandise. The streets are full of big boards announcing the reduction of prices.

Razlog

The Municipality of Razlog is located in southwestern Bulgaria, in  the Razlog valley and is surrounded by three mountains – Rila to the north, Pirin to the south and the Rhodopes - to the east. The capital Sofia is 155 km away, the town of Blagoevgrad is at a distance of 53 km. The famous ski resort of Bansko is only 6 km south of Razlog.
The town of Razlog is famous for its houses of the so-called Razlog-Chepino architectural style that spread during the Bulgarian Renaissance period. Nowadays, there are 41 such houses in good condition in Razlog, and some of these have been transformed into museums of history and ethnography. In the vicinity of Razlog, one can take hiking tours to natural sights and archeological remains.
The tourism is with great importance for the area. The Alpine peaks, the beautiful nature, the warm mineral springs, the great number of natural resources, the places with cultural and historical significance, the well maintained ski tracks as the hospitality of the local people attract many tourists not only from Bulgaria.

Banite

The village of Banite is situated in the heart of the beautiful Rhodope Mountains, in the eastern part of Smolyan district, in the valley of Malka Arda River, 750 meters above the sea level. It is 270 km from the capital Sofia,125 km from the town of Plovdiv and only 60 km from the town of Smolyan. The village is well known as a spa resort. A warm mineral spring has been found in the center of the village, which according to legends dates back to 2-3 century.
Around the spring there have been discovered remnants of an ancient bath that is an evidence for the prosperity of the settlement in the past.

The picturesque mountain nature, the warm mineral spring, the fresh and clean air ,the favourable climate,all this makes Banite an attractive place for many Bulgarian and foreign tourists.Banite is a starting point for walks, outgoings and routes to beautiful places.
