The waterfall of Polska skakavitsa is situated in the Zemen Mountain, not far away from the town of Zemen and the village of Razhdavitsa. It stands at 700 m altitude and is 80 km away from the Bulgarian capital Sofia and 60 km away from the town of Pernik.
A rivulet, passing through the village of Polska skakavitsa (situated on a rock massif) falls with 50 m of height and forms a shallow but a splendid waterfall. There are numerous holes in the rocks and the whole area is overgrown in verdure.
Situated in the magnificent Zemen’s defile, the waterfall is one of the most impressive in Bulgaria.
Tourists can reach it by train through the Skakavitsa station and by car through the village of Razhdavitsa.
The Monastery of “St. Troitsa” (Holy Trinity), known as the Patriarch Monastery is tucked away at the foot of the vertical rocks, in the gorge of the Yantra River, around 10 km of the Old Bulgarian capital Veliko Tarnovo. According to the records, the monastery arose as far back as 1070. In 1368, the hermit Theodosii Tarnovski settled in that region and later the feature patriarch Evtimii also settled there. Both Tsar Ivan Alexander and Tsar (King) Ivan Shishman used to visit and help the monastery, too.
The village of Dolen is situated in a small river valley on the southern sides of the Rhodope Mountains. The attractive village is located 8 km away in northwest of Satovcha and 24 km northeast of Gotse Delchev.
The Han Maara cave (house-cave) is the largest cave in the Kalofer region of the Central Balkan area. Following the trail from Rai hut to Botev pick and Vasil Levski hut at about 500 m from the hut one can see the cave Han Maara. Soon after passing by the karst spring at the foot of the Raiski Skali rocks and crossing the Praskalska river, when the marvelous waterfall Raisko Praskalo (124,5 m.) in front just appears, below the path gapes the entrance of the cave. Despite that the cave is developed in limestone there are no typical formations. The main gallery is torn down at about 30 m inside and the exact length of the cave is 182 m. There is an underground river. The altitude of the entrance of the cave is 1450 m.
