The town of Lom is situated on the right bank of the Danube River, at its estuary with the Lom river.
It is 162 km north of Sofia,the capital of Bulgaria.
The town is the second largest and most significant Bulgarian port on the Danube (after Rousse) and is a railway terminus. It is located 162 km north from the capital Sofia.
Lom is famous for its amazing neo-renaissance architecture and its beaches on the Danube River.
The town is also the first to build a Community Centre in Bulgaria in the 19th century.
Major industries include beer and wine production.
There are a number of museums, many monuments and a large park in the north part of the town.
