250size43.jpgThe town of Bratsigovo stands 420 meters above sea level. It is situated in the western part of the Rhodope Mountains in the Osogovo- Rhodope region, on the two banks of the Umishka River. Its population is about 4600 people and it is 24 km distant south from Pazardzik, 23 km northeast from Batak and 7 km east from Peshtera.

In the period of Bulgarian revival Bratsigovo advanced and in 1831 was founded the first monastic school. Today Bratsigovo is a town with impressive cultural- architectural heritage. Places of great interest for tourists are the Historical Museum, the church “St. Yoan”, Vasil Petleshkov’s birth house, Dzambov’s house, Lukov’s house, etc.

In the area there are nine springs with phenomenal healing properties.

16 km to the south is located the resort settlement “Vasil Petleshkov”, more famous with the name of Atoluka.

The nature is picturesque and the town is perfect for a quiet and pleasant holiday. There are several hotels and private rooms for tourists.
